VEDIC ASTROLOGY V WESTERN ASTROLOGY

Vedic Astrology (Jyotish) uses the diamond-shaped chart compared to the 360° wheel chart used by in Western Astrology.

Vedic Astrology works with the Lunar Calendar and Sidereal Zodiac with the planets moving through the constellations, and also traveling through the signs the constellations are in. The planets considered by most Vedic astrologers include the Sun, Moon, Mercury, Venus, Mars, Jupiter, Saturn and the Nodes of the Moon, Rahu and Ketu.

Western Astrology uses the Tropical Zodiac, looking at the equinoxes and the planets in their own signs rather than the constellations.  They focus on the Solar Calendar. The Sun (the focal point of the Western chart), the Moon, Mercury, Venus, Mars, Jupiter, Saturn, Uranus, Neptune and Pluto are considered, However some of the Western schools do not use these additional planetary bodies beyond Saturn.

So looking at both the Eastern and Western Approaches which one is more accurate. My belief is that Vedic Astrology enables an in depth analysis to be done of the planets and the exact journey they follow and this allows better predictions to be made. It allows plants, the signs they are in and any aspects to be considered which can provide a lot of detail.  This allows individuals to make more informed decisions.  It allows guidance through any obstacles and provides way of making the journey a little easier.

However overall, I believe that Astrology is only as accurate as the Astrologer whose knowledge and expertise enable him or her to be.
